THE UNIT
Background
The expertise of the lead physicians of The Wellington Sports Medicine Unit has been gained at the highest level within the worlds of competitive sport, athletics and dancing. The physical demands of activities as diverse as ballet, badminton, cricket and athletics are at the top end of the scale for sports injuries referred to the Unit.
Anyone can access this world-class knowledge and resource, to ensure the best in biomechanical analysis, medical imaging, and an integrated understanding of conventional and complementary medicine. This is available to assess and treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries.
At all levels, ages and activities, exercise can be both the cause and the cure of the problem. Dr. Roger Wolman and Dr. Cathy Speed have, between them, a special interest in the physiology of exercise and the interaction of diet, lifestyle and exercise, whether related to traumatic injury or the cumulative damage of poorly managed long term exercise.
In their approach to your individual circumstances, the Unit is also able to draw upon the equally expert physiotherapy, imaging, nursing and other resources available within The Wellington Hospital.
